But perhaps your statement was a bit tongue in cheek, and I'm stating the obvious. Best regards, Deborah. Semipro Tech. Joined: Aug Posts: Texas, U. Regards, You know, I was just recently thinking of asking this question myself, and am very glad you made this suggestion. I am working from the Kalmus edition and one other right now and am not bowled over by either. I've had difficulty with the paper and bindings of the Kalmus editions, too. When I was a young teen we did a family spoof with a piano scene, and a Kalmus edition of the Mendelssohn concerto was sitting on the piano and tied around the binding with invisible thread.

Will you please send it to me, so that I may dispose of it properly i. I do hope you have a better edition and if you don't we'll take up a collection so that you may own one. This tour was prevented by Grieg's death in September, But from our rehearsals of that summer I gleaned a, to me, priceless body of experiences anent Grieg's intentions regarding the rendering of the concerto, including expression marks written by Grieg himself into my score of the work as well as my notes descriptive of his own performances of the solo part.
These data I have endeavored to place on record in the present publication. In this edition the original and authentic form of the concerto i. These alterations and suggestions fall into three classes : 1 Those written by Grieg himself into my score of the concerto during the summer of , or noted down by me as descriptive of his rendering during this performances of the work marked E. These alterations marked P. Grainger, with EG's approval, changes that to an eight-note tremolo between the two hands; the chord played by the LH and the upper single note of the tremolo played by the RH.
In the cadenza of the first movement, where the first theme begins in RH octaves with tremolo notes in between the octave notes, Grieg has sanctioned the dropping of the 32nd-note coinciding with the sixteenth-note octave. There are some very helpful redistributions of notes in some of the other passages of the cadenza, without any changes in the actual notation.
I think that for anyone studying this concerto the Grainger edition is a very useful addition to the respected Henle or to any other good edition of the work. Our Most Popular Forums. Digital Pianos - Electronic Pianos - Synths Piano Forum. FAQ - Piano Forum.
